Privacy Policy

FreePhoneSpy is a transparent, consent-based parental monitoring service. A parent uses a web panel in a browser and pairs it with a visible app on their child’s Android phone. This policy explains what data the service collects, why we hold it, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how you can exercise your rights over it.

Last updated: 2 September 2026

This policy applies to the FreePhoneSpy website, the parent web panel, and the FreePhoneSpy child app for Android. Read it together with our Terms of Use, Acceptable Use Policy and Cookie Policy.

Who we are and how the service works

FreePhoneSpy (“we”, “us”, “the service”) operates the website, the panel and the child app. The parent creates an account, signs in to the panel at freephonespy.com/my/login, and pairs a child’s phone using the 6-digit code shown on the Devices screen. The child app stays visible on the phone and includes a Transparency screen that lists what is being shared. No monitoring feature runs until the parent switches it on in the panel.

In data protection terms, the parent is the account holder who decides which categories of data are collected from a child’s phone. FreePhoneSpy provides the software and stores the data on the parent’s behalf as a processor for that data, while acting as controller for the account information described below.

Data we collect from the parent account

When you register we collect your email address and a password, stored as a salted hash and never in readable form. As you use the panel we store the settings you create: child display names, the devices you pair, the features you enable, saved Places, screen-time budgets, app limits, web-filter rules and keyword lists. We also keep standard service records: sign-in times, the IP address and browser used to reach the panel, task submissions made to extend your access, and any messages you send to support.

Data the child app collects, by feature

The child app collects nothing until a parent enables a feature in the panel. Each feature below collects only the data listed, and collection stops when the feature is switched off.

  • Location: the phone’s current position, a rolling location history, and arrival and departure events at the Places a parent saves.
  • App usage: which apps are installed, how long each is used, and when a daily screen-time budget or an app limit is reached.
  • Notifications and message headers: the sender, app name, time and preview line of notifications and SMS or social-app messages. Full message bodies are collected only after a separate consent switch is turned on by the parent and the child together.
  • Call log: phone numbers, matched contact names, call direction, time and duration. Call audio is recorded only if the call recording consent switch is enabled and the device supports it.
  • Contacts: the names and numbers stored in the phone’s contact list.
  • Wi-Fi networks: the names of networks the phone connects to and when it joined them.
  • Email headers: sender, subject line and time for email accounts set up on the phone. We do not collect email message bodies.
  • Media (when enabled): photos or camera and microphone access are collected only where a specific advanced feature, such as the remote camera or ambient audio tool, has been turned on through the consent switch described in our Terms of Use.

Advanced features, including message bodies, the keylogger, remote camera, ambient audio and call recording, are unlocked through the tasks system described in our Terms of Use and remain off until the consent switch is set.

Why we process this data

We use account data to provide and secure the panel, process task submissions that extend access, and respond to support requests. We use child-app data to display it to the parent in the panel, trigger alerts the parent has configured, such as a geofence arrival or a screen-time limit, and keep the service reliable and secure. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles of a child.

Our legal bases for processing

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases. Parent account data is processed under contract, because we need it to provide the service the parent signed up for. Data collected from a child’s phone is processed on the basis of the consent that the parent, acting as the person with parental responsibility, gives when enabling each feature, together with our legitimate interest in operating a functioning family-safety product. Where a feature requires a joint consent switch, both the parent’s and the child’s confirmation are recorded. Service records such as sign-in logs and security data are processed under our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse. Where local law requires it, we rely on that law as an additional basis, for example for cooperating with lawful requests from authorities.

How long we keep data

We keep parent account data for as long as the account is open, and for a limited period afterward to meet legal, security and anti-fraud obligations. Data collected from a child’s phone is kept only as long as the parent leaves the relevant feature enabled, plus a rolling window we use to show recent history in the panel; disabling a feature stops new collection and existing history for that feature is deleted on a routine schedule rather than kept indefinitely. Deleting an account or unpairing a device removes the associated child-app data from active systems, subject to a short backup retention window needed for disaster recovery.

Storage and security

Data is stored on infrastructure operated by reputable cloud hosting providers, encrypted in transit between the child app, the panel and our servers. Passwords are salted and hashed. Access to production data is limited to the staff who need it to run the service, and we apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or loss. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep these protections current.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with service providers who help us run FreePhoneSpy, such as cloud hosting, email delivery and analytics vendors, under agreements that limit their use of the data to providing that service to us. We may disclose data where required by law, to respond to a valid legal request, to protect the safety of a person, or to enforce our Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy. If FreePhoneSpy is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, data may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to the protections in this policy.

Children’s data and parental consent

FreePhoneSpy is designed for a parent or legal guardian to monitor their own minor child, or for a device owner to monitor a device with the user’s knowledge and consent, as set out in our Acceptable Use Policy. The parent account holder is the person who consents to collection of data from the child’s phone and controls which categories are enabled. The child app is visible on the device and includes a Transparency screen showing what is shared, so the child using the phone knows what is collected. A parent can review, adjust or turn off any feature in the panel at any time, and can delete a child’s data by unpairing the device or closing the account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal data we hold about you or your child, including the right to access a copy of it, correct it, delete it, receive it in a portable format, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent for a feature at any time without affecting processing that already took place. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR, and can also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. Residents of California and other US states with similar laws have comparable rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
