How to install FreePhoneSpy

A friendly, step-by-step guide to setting up your phone tracker. Most people are up and running in about five minutes, and every step below has a picture to follow.

~5 minutes Android phone No rooting needed

Before you start

Setting up FreePhoneSpy is quick, but a moment of preparation makes it smoother still. Here's what to have ready before you begin.

  • The Android phone you'll be setting up, with you for a few minutes
  • A FreePhoneSpy account and a plan that includes the features you want
  • A Wi-Fi or mobile connection on the phone for the download
  • A few uninterrupted minutes to finish the steps in one go
FreePhoneSpy is an Android phone tracker. You'll need one-time physical access to the phone to install it, just like any genuine monitoring app.

Step by step

Install in eight simple steps

Follow these in order on the Android phone. Each one takes moments, and the picture beside it shows what to expect.

1

Create your FreePhoneSpy account

Head to the FreePhoneSpy site on any device and sign up. Choose the plan that includes the tracking features you're after, location, messages, social apps and so on, and confirm your details. Your account is the home for every report, so pick an email you check often. You can always upgrade your plan later from the dashboard if you decide you'd like more.

2

Open the welcome email on the phone

Now pick up the Android phone you'll be setting up. Open the welcome email from FreePhoneSpy on that phone and tap the download link inside it. Doing this on the phone itself (rather than another device) means the download starts in the right place. If the email isn't in the inbox, check the spam or promotions folder, it occasionally lands there.

3

Allow installs from your browser

Because you're installing directly rather than through the Play Store, Android will ask for permission to install apps from your browser. Open the phone's settings when prompted, find the option to allow installs from this source, and switch it on. This is a normal, one-time step, and you can switch it back off afterwards if you prefer. Our guide shows the exact toggle to look for on most phones.

4

Download and install the app

With that permission in place, the download will complete. Tap the downloaded file and choose Install. It takes only a few seconds. If the phone pauses to scan the file, let it finish, then continue. Once installed, you'll see the FreePhoneSpy app ready to open. You're now over the halfway mark.

5

Grant each permission the app needs

Open the app and it will walk you through the permissions the features you chose will use, things like location, messages and accessibility. Switch each one on as prompted. Granting them all is what lets the tracker capture activity reliably; skipping a permission simply means the matching feature won't have what it needs. Take them one at a time and follow the on-screen guidance, which mirrors the picture here.

6

Connect the phone to your account

Next, sign in inside the app with the same account details you created in step one. This links the phone to your dashboard so activity can begin syncing to your reports. You'll usually see a tick or confirmation once the connection is made. If sign-in doesn't take the first time, double-check the email and password and try again.

7

Finish setup and let it settle

Complete the final on-screen prompts so the app can settle into the background and get on with its work quietly. Following the steps to the end matters, it's what lets the tracker run smoothly without needing attention. Once you're done, hand the phone back exactly as you found it. The hard part is over.

8

Sign in to your dashboard

Now the rewarding bit. On your own phone, tablet or laptop, open any browser and sign in to your FreePhoneSpy dashboard. Your first reports will begin to appear as the phone syncs, and from here you can explore location, messages, calls and the rest, set up safe-zone alerts, and tailor the tools to what you care about most.

Questions

Installation questions, answered

Quick answers to the things people most often ask while setting up.

How long does installation take?

Most people finish in about five minutes. Having the phone, your account details and a connection ready beforehand keeps it quick.

Do I need to root the phone?

No. FreePhoneSpy is designed to install and run on a standard, unrooted Android phone. A few advanced features may need extra steps, which the app explains as you go.

Why do I need to allow installs from my browser?

Because you're installing directly rather than from the Play Store, Android asks permission once to install from your browser. It's a normal step, and you can switch it back off afterwards.

The welcome email hasn't arrived, what now?

Check the spam or promotions folder first. If it's still missing after a few minutes, sign in to your account to find the download link, or contact support and we'll resend it.

Do I have to grant every permission?

Each permission powers a particular feature. Granting them all gives you the complete experience; if you skip one, only the matching feature is affected.

Can I install it without the phone?

No. One-time physical access to the Android phone is needed to install the app and switch on permissions. Be cautious of any product claiming otherwise.

Will there be an obvious app on the phone?

Follow the final setup prompts and the app settles quietly into the background. If you'd like specifics for your phone model, our support team can talk you through it.

How soon will I see reports?

Your dashboard starts filling in as the phone syncs, usually within a short while of finishing setup, provided the phone has a connection.

It won't sign in, what should I check?

Make sure you're using the same email and password you created, and that the phone has a connection. If it still won't connect, contact support and we'll sort it.

Can I set up more than one phone?

Each licence covers one phone. Add a licence per device to your account and repeat these steps on each phone.

Create your account, follow the steps above, and you'll be viewing clear reports in minutes.
